Research Engineer

About the Role

As a Research Engineer at Entropia, you’ll design and develop AI-driven solutions to optimize and automate business processes. You’ll lead R&D projects, build prototypes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate our technology into client workflows. Staying up-to-date with the latest AI advancements, you’ll help drive innovation and deliver real impact.

This role is based in Paris, France. We mainly use an in-person work model, with a flexible work-from-home policy.

Responsibilities

As a Research Engineer at Entropia you will work on the following:

  • Design of Innovative AI Solutions: Propose innovative solutions based on new AI technologies (continuing the pre-training of small language models, building datasets & benchmarks for specialised industries, aligning multimodal models with business-specific inputs/outputs, etc.) to optimise or automate existing processes. Lead R&D projects aimed at developing new methods in artificial intelligence to improve the security and auditability of automated business processes.
  • Development of Prototypes: Design and build prototypes to test and validate innovative concepts before industrialisation.
  • Deployment of Developed Solutions: Support the implementation of projects, ensuring effective coordination with various stakeholders (IT team, business units, infrastructure, etc.).
  • Technology Watch: Weekly review of the latest major advancements published in AI, particularly in the fields of small language models (SLMs), multimodal models, and alignment techniques (DPO, IPO, Abliteration, etc.), as well as attending or participating in conferences.
  • R&D Project Management: Plan and coordinate R&D activities, ensuring compliance with deadlines and allocated budgets.

Qualifications

Candidates should bring 7+ years of experience (post-BS/MS) in machine learning research or engineering roles, with a proven track record as a Machine Learning Engineer or Research Engineer. You’re likely a great fit for this position if you:

  • Have a passion for solving complex infrastructure challenges that come with building LLM- and AI-native products.
  • Excel at communicating across technical levels, from low-level details to big-picture strategic initiatives.
  • Think in terms of scalability, constantly anticipating what’s needed to elevate systems and solutions to the next order of magnitude.
  • Maintain a high level of personal drive and efficiency.

Compensation

The salary for this position will be determined by a combination of market analysis and the candidate's experience and qualifications.
